In 1997, Gary Stout, a racquetball player from southern New Jersey, was driving by the radio station and saw their advertisement selling air-time.
WNJC 1360 AM was at that time, and continues to be, one of the few radio stations that will open up their microphones to amateur and professional talk show hosts alike.
With racquetball having only one publication coming out every two months, and perhaps a periodic state association newsletter, Gary decided that he wanted to see if he could bring the
word of racquetball to the air-waves, by producing a one hour talk show broadcasting on a weekly basis, solely dedicated to the sport of racquetball. And from that decision, Racquetball Roundtable was born.
In January 1998, Ray Davis joined the Racquetball
Roundtable team as co-host and on-air instructor, giving weekly performance tips as well as providing feedback to callers that wanted to improve their game. At the end of 1998, Gary decided to leave the
show to pursue other interests; remaining on board as a correspondent and contributing periodically with stories of interest. Ray took over the helm as host of the show and continues in that position today.
Much of the today's show content, remains intact as it was originally created;
Rule Reviews
Extreme Championship Performance Tips
Product Reviews
Interviews with Pro Tour Players and Industry Professionals.
Pro Tournament Coverage with the IRT, WPRO, WOR, and CPRT
Listeners are encouraged to call in to the show and discuss that evening's topic, or bring their concerns to the air. As long as the topic deals with racquetball, it's an open forum for the listeners.
Racquetball Roundtable has been on the air at WNJC 1360 AM for 10+ years; probably longer than anyone thought would be possible. And for one very good reason …… the passion of each
host and co-host to promote the greatest sport in the world ….. RACQUETBALL !!!!!
