- the area's top jock for R&B, Jazz and Oldies can be heard every Saturday from 11pm to 6am. Born Kevin I. Miller, Khalil started his music career as a drummer in elementary school, carrying his
sticks with him through junior high and high school.
In 1976 he began doing disc jockey gigs after attending the National Broadcasting School and working at local clubs throughout the city.
In 1991, his
mentor and idol, Georgie Woods, moved him into broadcasting. Khalil did the Dell East shows with Georgie and also the Uptown Reunion Galas.
He began promoting and MC'ing some local shows with top acts such
as The Intruders, Page Five, Hearts of Stone, Sharon Paige, Howard Melvin's Blue Notes, Booties Barnes and Steve Baylock.
He's been one of the forces behind the oldies boom and sponsors the Georgie Woods
Scholarship Fund for musically inclined students meeting the average grade requirements.
The Georgie Woods Scholarship Foundation first scholarship will be awarded at the South Philadelphia High School
